This particular oil is inspired by New England marshes.
In general, my artworks are about the representation of space, and they question perspective. In my opinion, perspective is a fixed way to represent space: fixed focal distance and fixed vanishing point. PerspectivePerpsective gives to the spectator the illusion of controling his surroundings... I have been working on grids which propose as many as 10 or 15 vanishing points in simple oils like this one, allowing the gaze to find its own path.
The painting is not dominated by the human gaze, but becomes an autonomous object with its own presence.
